Meet the newest member of Strategic Consulting & Coaching! Heidi Herron has a strong background in resource development, strategy and program development, and design experience.
In part, Heidi describes herself as a grant writer for nonprofits that are on the front lines working with the most vulnerable populations in our community. “My job is to strategically match a nonprofit with a funder who is interested in supporting its work. I am passionate about putting together strong proposals telling the story and helping raise awareness and bringing resources to those in need.”
Here’s a little Q&A we did with Heidi to help you get to know her talents and skills.
SCC: Please tell us about a client experience you have found particularly rewarding.
I assisted a nonprofit with its first dive into the grant making world. I met with their Board to answer their questions about the process and then conducted an environmental scan which included developing a list of their contacts, working with staff to prioritize them. I then drafted a grant proposal that resulted in a reward for them!
SCC What types of work are you looking forward to doing for our clients?
I am most passionate about grant writing and strategic planning. I also have experience in fund development including leading two organization in developing their first earned income revenue sources.
SCC: And for fun, what are a couple of your favorite things to do during the summer? And, what are you reading this summer?
I enjoy camping, biking, and kayaking in Northwest WI where I live with my husband and two sons. I journal and read multiple books simultaneously. My current reading list includes: In the Shadow of Man, by Jane Goodall about her early years observing chimp behavior, The Other Voice, a compilation of Scottish women writers, and The Praktikos by Evagrius Ponticus, a 4th century desert monk.
