SCC Resource: MPH-Trained Epidemiologist

As we all struggle to navigate the quickly evolving challenges brought on by the coronavirus, nonprofits must not only assess how they move forward, but how they communicate to their stakeholders including employees, volunteers, and those they serve. The SCC team has a strong link to a MPH-trained epidemiologist, Fred Anderson, who stands ready to consult with organizations on pandemic plans which include writing employee and client safety procedures.

Fred Anderson (husband to colleague Renae Oswald-Anderson) worked as an infectious disease epidemiologist for the Washington County Department of Public Health and Environment for 32 years and is a registered environmental health specialist. Over his career, Fred served on several boards and committees, including the Lakeview Hospital Infection Control Committee, The American Red Cross Minnesota Region and St Croix Valley Red Cross, and is currently the Treasurer for Community Thread. His international volunteer experience includes four community health services trips to rural Tanzania.

Fred earned a Masters of Public Health in Environmental and Infectious Disease Epidemiology from the University of Minnesota, and a BS from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire.
