Dismantling Racism

The Power of Community

By Renae Oswald Anderson, Partner

The recent Juneteenth celebrations bring with them an important reminder for me and my colleagues at Strategic Consulting & Coaching (SCC) to continue to advocate and support work that dismantles systemic racism. SCC pays great attention to addressing systemic racism, as explicitly or implicitly racist policies continue to affect BIPOC individuals, families, and communities today. Systemic racism can appear in a number of different ways, showing up most often in stark income and wealth gaps that directly affect our communities. Dismantling racism needs focus and work every day; this work is more important than ever given the great divides in our community and across the country.

SCC is a women-owned firm with a consulting team of experienced nonprofit professionals who represent a spectrum of ages, and sexual orientation. While some of us have lived and worked around the country, others are like me with life-long roots in rural Minnesota. Here is a link to our statement on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

We as individuals have our own work to do in recognizing our inherent privilege and power and, collectively, must work to address systemic racism in organizations and in the broader community.

SCC has a core value of community: We value and listen to the wisdom of the community. We listen carefully to those voices already in community, to understand all barriers to full participation in the community. The core work of consultants is listening to and honoring all voices and making sure there is room at the table for everyone.

As always, please contact us with any questions you may have, or if we can help you accomplish your mission (www.strategic-cc.com).
