JOB SUMMARY
The Human Resources Director will lead the development and implementation of proactive diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives which will support Wayside’s new strategic plan, currently in development. The Director will lead the development of a vision and effective strategy that champions the importance of a diverse and inclusive environment. The Director will engage staff to build a welcoming and inclusive environment. The Director will assess potential barriers and develop strategies focused on recruitment and retention of a diverse workforce. The Director will design training initiatives on cultural intelligence, gender differences, disability, sexual harassment, and other topics to advance the values of equity and inclusion, and to maintain compliance with applicable laws. The Director will also manage Workforce Analysis and lead and oversee compliance with Affirmative Action, Equal Employment Opportunity, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and other applicable requirements.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions:    

•       Plans, guides, and advises the CEO and senior leadership team members on diversity, equity, and affirmative action matters. Collaborates with management to create, implement, and monitor programs designed to ensure fair and equitable treatment of clients and staff and address personnel issues.

•       Develops, supports, and implements training to promote onboarding, employee engagement, cultural understanding, a climate of equity and inclusion, and health and wellness initiatives.

•       Develops strategies to support the achievement of the overall business operations objectives.

•       Directs, coaches, and develops the work of professional human resource staff and oversees EEO investigations. Evaluates documentation and advises individuals and departments on appropriate action(s) to be taken. Provides mediation, as needed. Ensures written report of investigatory findings and dispositions are prepared and maintained in a confidential file.

•       Provides support and oversight of claims related to Disability, FMLA, unemployment, and worker’s compensation.

•       Gathers, researches, and analyzes data for use in statistical calculations and reporting in order to meet federal and state requirements, including creating workforce analysis reports.

•       Works collaboratively to develop recruitment strategies and participates and advises Wayside’s recruitment and retention of underrepresented groups.

•       Oversees and ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations and develops and recommends policies and procedures.

•       Manages the department budget, including developing budget proposals, justifying expenses, and monitoring accounts.

•       Oversees the administration and compliance of the employee benefits plans.

•       Ensures the HR team works in collaboration with the finance department on payroll and as appropriate to ensure alignment of budgetary goals.

•       Ensures the effective execution of workforce planning, compensation, performance management, employee development, recruiting, and attrition management.

•       Develops and deploys an effective HR strategy that enables performance and effectively balances efficiency, effectiveness, and overall costs.

•       Provides analysis of legislation and regulations applicable to human resource operations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

·        Must be free from problematic substance use for at least two years immediately preceding hiring and must sign a statement attesting to that fact.

·        Demonstrates a high degree of confidentiality.

·        Experience in organizational development and change management.

·        Excellent verbal written communication skills.

·        Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.

·        Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

·        Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

·        Strong supervisory and leadership skills.

·        Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.

·        Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Education:

·        Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field is required.

·        Master’s degree in a business or human resources management or a related field preferred.

·        J.D. a plus.

·        SPHR designation will receive consideration, but is not required.

Preferred Experience:

·        Familiarity with the needs and workings of nonprofit organizations

·        Demonstrated experience working effectively with diverse individuals and communities, particularly with populations including Black, Indigenous, and People of Color.

·        5+ years of human resources experience.

·        3+ years of management/supervisory experience

COMPENSATION:   $90K-$95K to start DOQ

HOURS:
Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm with some flexibility, very occasional evenings and weekends  (40 hours per week)
