SCC’s Renae Oswald-Anderson is currently serving as the Interim Director at J-HAP and is leading the search for a part-time program coordinator to plan programs, events, and community engagement opportunities for the developmentally disabled adults who live independently at Cornerstone Creek Apartments where J-HAP is located.

Seeking a Program Coordinator

J-HAP is a non-profit located in Golden Valley that provides unique programming opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities who live independently at Cornerstone Creek Apartments.

Position Summary:  The ideal Program Coordinator is outgoing and enjoys working directly with adults with developmental disabilities. You will plan and facilitate a wide variety of high-quality group programs and activities for the tenants of Cornerstone Creek Apartments. The events include social, recreational, and educational opportunities both within the Cornerstone Creek building and in the community. As the Program Coordinator, you will oversee the work of Recreational Facilitators and volunteers. This role is crucial to the mission of J-HAP in providing a variety of programming options designed to enhance the lives of our tenants.

Reporting Relationship: Reports directly to the Executive Director.

Hours:  20 hours per week. Regular hours: Monday through Thursday; 12 noon to 4 pm and occasional early evening hours throughout the week.

Primary Responsibilities:

·        Plan and prepare a monthly calendar of activities for tenants

·        Serve as staff liaison to the Tenant Council and attend monthly meetings

·        Coordinate programming logistics for each event including supplies, refreshments, and transportation if needed

·        Recruit, plan and direct the work of program volunteers

·        Develop community engagement opportunities in the broader community

·        Develop partnerships in the broader community

·        Attend and participate in staff meetings

·        Manage the program activity budget

Qualifications: 

·        AA degree in human services field, education, and/or one year of experience working with people with disabilities.

·        Strong written and verbal communications skills with outgoing personality and desire to work with persons with disabilities.

·        Ability to initiate and implement a wide variety of program activities

·        Proficiency in basic computer skills; Outlook, Word, and Excel

·        Must be able to work independently and cooperatively with team

·        Must pass criminal background check and have a valid driver’s license

Salary:  $20-23/hour dependent on qualifications and experience
