Candidate Search: Development Manager

SCC is pleased to facilitate a candidate search on behalf of our client, J-HAP for a Development Manager.

Position Summary
The Development Manager will have overall responsibility for designing,

managing, and implementing J-HAP’s annual fundraising goals. This position will develop strategies and programs for solicitation of annual and major gifts, including cultivating ongoing relationships with prospects/donors. Works collaboratively with volunteer leadership and represents J-HAP in the community. This position manages special event fundraising and supervises the work of the contracted grant writer. This part-time (20-30 hours per week) position reports to the Operations Manager.  

Organizational Overview

J-HAP is a nonprofit (501c3) organization dedicated to serving independent adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Our mission is to create caring, safe, and inclusive communities where adults with IDD build independent lives filled with meaningful experiences and relationships. J-HAP co-developed Cornerstone Creek, an affordable, independent living, state-of-the-art apartment building for adults with IDD in Golden Valley, and offices there.

 Key Accountabilities:

 ·        Build authentic relationships with donors by communicating effectively in-person, via phone, or electronically

·        Develop and implement annual individual fundraising plans by discovering new prospects, cultivating current relationships and stewardship of donors

·        Introduce J-HAP to new audiences by engaging with the broader community and attend events as appropriate

·        Work with annual fundraising volunteer committees to develop collateral, marketing materials and web content that address the fund-raising activities as required

·        Supervise contracted designer to support J-HAP special event fundraising efforts

·        Work closely with and manage the work of contracted grant writer   

·        Work closely with the Operations Manager as to utilization of the donor database  

·        Ensures cost-effective use of financial resources and manages to budget

Qualifications:

·        Bachelor’s degree required, along with a minimum of three years of development experience in a nonprofit agency

·        Understanding of basic fundraising principles and development best practices

·        Strong prospect identification and qualification skills

·        Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading ability

·        Strong interpersonal, verbal communication, and presentation skills

·        Knowledge of donor databases (J-HAP uses Little Green Light)

·        Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook)

·        Experience with online fundraising, email marketing, and internet research

·        Self-motivated, disciplined, and goal oriented

·        Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including both verbal and written communications that are effective with diverse age groups and audiences

·        Demonstrated ability to develop strategies, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors and to inspire high net-worth individuals, recommending specific purpose and level of gift

·        Ability to work flexible hours

·        Access to a vehicle

Salary Range and Compensation: $35,000- $40,000- (part-time) dependent on qualifications. In addition to a competitive salary for like-sized organizations, employees receive pro-rated time off for six legal holidays and seven days off for Jewish holidays.

Flexible schedule with ability to work from home.
